One of the most freeing things I've ever done is tell people my life story, and that's all of it… even the bad stuff.
And the reason I do that is because it keeps me honest, it keeps me humble, and it keeps me free. Because when you own your mistakes and admit them and learn from them, you become free.
It reminds me of that scene in Game of Thrones with Tyrion Lannister, when he's telling John Snow to “own” the fact that he's a bastard. He goes on to say, when you own your faults… no one can use them against you. And in a way, they empower you.
Jesus says if you want to be pure then confess your mistakes to one another. And I've found that when I do this, they no longer hold me down with shame, regret, or remorse.
